THRIVING THROUGH CHANGE: MAXIMIZING OUR IMPACT AND SHAPING OUR FUTURE

A TWO-DAY VIRTUAL CONFERENCE THAT FOCUSED ON:

collaboration, learning, and innovation across our region. Together, we explored new ideas, shared successes, and strengthened our collective impact to continue to support rural, first-generation, and low-income STEM students across West Virginia, Kentucky, and beyond.

Our agenda for Friday included an optional ‘New to First2’ session, round-robin presentations sharing updates and learnings from our higher education partners, insights about successful campus mentoring models, and an interactive workshop and discussion focused on industry vs. student/faculty perceptions about student workforce readiness.

Our agenda for Saturday included further round-robin presentations sharing updates and learnings from our higher education partners, a session about first-generation student experiences, a data presentation about our partner campuses’ STEM students and their self-reported self-efficacy, belonging, science identity, career identity, and probability to graduate, and a session about external STEM opportunities for students.
