HEPC releases enrollment report. How can First2 help?
Enrollment in WV Higher education institutions has continued a five-year decline according to a new report just released by the HEPC. HEPC Chancellor Sarah Tucker notes that these data follow a national trend and declining population levels in the Mountain State, in a press release.
What will next year’s data show? Given this year-long grapple with virtual school, hybrid classes and the like, high school juniors and seniors may be reluctant to consider post-secondary education. At a recent meeting, organized by the Education Alliance, I learned that both PROMISE Application completion and FAFSA application completion are lagging significantly behind completion rates for this time last year. The first step to college is to get those financial aid applications completed- decisions about attending college can be made later.
The Education Alliance plans to launch a contest to encourage students to complete these applications. Stay tuned for more information about that. What can First2 Network do to help?
