FSU Immersion Site Experience

I participated in the First2 Immersion Site at Fairmont State University and did research with Dr. Matthew Scanlon and Samantha O’Brien. Our research was the analysis of lead in paint. We tested several samples from homes dating earlier than 1978, we even had a sample from the the airport featured in Dawn of the Dead. All of our samples turned out to be well over the legal limit and has given me my research for the semester. The immersion site not only taught me how to research but also how to be a college student. I was made aware of many different resources across campus as well as allowing me to meet the faculty I would be working with everyday. The program truly helped me so much and made my arrival on campus so much smoother.
