Support House Bill 4919
Did you know there is a bill on the floor of the House right now that can make a huge positive difference in undergraduate students’ access to the Promise Scholarship?
HB4919 will allow students who have lost the Promise Scholarship by failing to meet the requirements, such as a 3.0 grade point average, to reapply once they can demonstrate that they satisfy the qualifications once again!
This is so important for a student who may have suffered through a hard semester, or had to reduce their course load due to life circumstances. This can be a game changer in allowing a student to receive the financial aid they need after a rough patch to complete their education.
First2 Network student leaders spent a day at the legislature last week and advocated hard for this bill, and they made a big impact. The bill made it out of committee and onto the House floor, and as of today is on the second reading. After third reading, the bill will pass to the Senate and this is when, if you are so moved, you can make a difference by contacting your state senators to encourage passage of HB 4919.
