Marshall University Scholar attends Neuroscience REU
Marshall University scholar Nicole Liang attended the Summer Integrative Neuroscience Experience REU site. The REU ran from May 27th to August 2nd at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter, Florida. Her research, under the direction of Dr. Gregg Fields, focused on the pathology of Alzheimer’s Disease. In particular, she explored the subcellular location of enzyme MT5-MMP, which recent studies have implicated in the progression of Alzheimer’s. This research potentially identifies treatment sites for Alzheimer’s within the cell.
