Inclusion and Diversity
The First2 Network is devoted to bringing more people into STEM, particularly people who have been underrespresented in STEM. In STEM fields, the underrepresented groups include but are not limited to: non-native English speakers, people of color, LGBTQ people, women, first-generation college goers, people who grew up in poverty, differently-abled people (including people with learning disorders, people who use assistive devices like wheelchairs, the visual and hearing impaired, etc), and rural students. The following questions help us work towards our goals of diversity and inclusion.

First2 Scholars program
The goal of the First2 Scholars program is to resource students’ time: to conduct research/STEM career immersion and to achieve the First2 Network aims. First2 Network wants to fund our scholars’ participation as network leaders, researchers, mentors, educators, and more - to enable students to invest their time and focus on leveraging STEM pathway success for themselves and for others.
If students have Work Study or another form of financial support to do research, we encourage students to use those funds. Students may opt into First2 Scholar activities, even if the student support stipend comes from another funding source. If you complete the First2 Scholars activities, you will be an official First2 Scholar for your professional bio and resume.
